Hannah's NYLD 2014 Blog Post

National Young Leaders Day 2014, was a once in my lifetime opportunity apart from last year., I really enjoyed the speakers and the hosts. The hosts were, Gem Knight of What Now and Dave Atkinson, who is a comedy speaker. The speakers were all amazing with, Charlie Laumatia, Cameron Calkoen, Laura Langman, Jamie Fitzgerald and Frances Valintine, with the comedy group, The Laughing Samoans. The Laughing Samoans are of the t.v show Fresh. The speaker I loved to listen to Cameron Calkoen. Cam is one inspirational speaker who was born with cable palsy. Cam is short for Cameron and he is a great person to be alive.

Frances Valintine is a mechanical technician and has now recently has just opened a new place  called the Mind Lab in main Auckland for young seekers,, for young people to have more experience for robots and technicians. When she was speaking to us in the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, she said that only 50% of the average age of IT secondary school teachers in this country. Frances was very inspirational, and in some parts really boring. Other than everything that the boring parts were, she was a real computer and technician geek.

The laughing Samoans, well they were a one funny pair group. I could talk for hours about them, but i’ll tell you what the were doing there. The Laughing Samoans, was a comedy pair and was also seen in the tv show called Fresh. Now when the laughing samoans were at national young leaders day because they had some serious business to do and that business was...... to make us laugh. One of the guys told a remix story of the three little pigs but with a twist. While one of them were speaking, the other one had to play what was happening in the story. It turned out to be HILARIOUS!!!

Dave Atkinson was one of the host along with Gem Knight from What Now. For the event and he had to put on a onesie, and after the break he didn’t really want to come on stage, but when he heard his favourite song called Turn Down For What, he came running out and did a round of and then a backflip!. He was amazing!. National Young Leaders day was a really cool experience. I could go to another one of these events, but next year Hauraki Plains College doesn't have things like this event. The theme was Dream, Dare and Develop. Also It was 3D!!
